About Global Solutions in Maths

We Learn By Doing

At Global Solutions in Maths (GSIM), we believe that mathematics is not just about formulas and equations — it is about developing problem-solving skills and critical thinking that empower learners for life.

GSIM offers Mathematics and Science extra lessons from Grade 7 through to Tertiary Education Institutions, including structured exam approach and preparation support. Our teaching is aligned to the CAPS curriculum and guided by Annual Teaching Plans (ATPs) that map every topic per grade.

What We Cover

GSIM offers extra lessons from Grade 7 through to Tertiary Education. Select a grade below to see topics covered, aligned to the CAPS curriculum.

Grade 9 Mathematics

Topics based on the finalised Grade 9 Annual Teaching Plan (ATP), aligned to CAPS.

📐 Algebra – Factorisation Rules

  • Common Factor: ax + ay = a(x + y)
  • Difference of Two Squares: a² − b² = (a−b)(a+b)
  • Trinomial: x² + bx + c = (x+p)(x+q)
  • Zero Product Rule: if ab = 0 then a = 0 or b = 0
  • Perfect Square Trinomial: a² + 2ab + b² = (a+b)²

📏 Geometry – Angle Relationships

  • Complementary Angles (sum = 90°)
  • Supplementary Angles (sum = 180°)
  • Angles on a Straight Line (sum = 180°)
  • Vertically Opposite Angles (equal)
  • Corresponding & Alternate Interior Angles
  • Co-interior Angles (sum = 180°)

🔢 Number Systems & Operations

  • Commutative, associative & distributive properties
  • Identity elements (0 for addition, 1 for multiplication)
  • Squares, cubes and roots of integers
  • Division by zero — undefined

📐 Additional Focus Areas

  • Exterior angle of a triangle
  • Diagonals of quadrilaterals (square, rectangle, rhombus)
